Beautiful step in the pastures. The Casera Tragonia is a great place high with a good view, but we did not see the locals. Forni is a small family unit. You can go shopping and bivouac around. We recommend the speranza inn, its local specialties, its blueberry pie subdued by its homemade custard and the kindness of its tenants.

Ci ritornemero presto.

We stayed in this place at the beginning of September 2016. With a group of friends we were suggested Hotel Edelweiss, never more appropriate choice. Sublime cuisine, availability and well-kept environment, at the time of departure we were all with the "magone". To be definitely recommended for those who want to discover this corner of the Dolomites, certainly less known but certainly not less beautiful. They returned soon.

Belle crossing the grassy slopes beneath the peaks of Mont scallops to Mount Rioda. A little further along the route, pursued and harassed by hordes of Tabanidae, Diptera family also called gadflies, I made the rise and cross the gap in the Croce di Tragonia truly on the run ... A Sopra Forni several hotels or hostels. In the town center: Hotel POSTA 174 Via NAZIONALE 39043388423 www.hotelposta.org info@hotelposta.org Pleasant atmosphere and good food!

High point at 1950m called Risumiela in between casera Tragonia and casera Razzo. about 1h30 in between thoses 2 water/food spot

    Monaco - Trieste
About 1h30 from Forni di Sopra, Casera Aip 1598m is opened all year round (fireplace + wood,no water)
Casera Tragonia is an extra 35min away
it takes a little more than an hour to reach the other side casera mediana and awesomely beautiful Val Pesarina
Sauris can be avoided (Via Alpina stays up) but it would be a shame to missed out Sauris smoked prosciutto
Casera Razzo can be bypassed unless you need to grab food/water nothing special to expect from a road side place...

We stayed 2 nights in Sauris and did the beautiful Monte Pieltinis climb as a day walk. It would be a shame to rush it in one long stage.
