Strenuous but great hike past the Rifugio Alpe del Lago (1545 m), which can be highly recommended, it is even tiled, has 9 beds, gas stove and is overall very clean for a bivouac. Before the cottage there is also water. Then it goes up towards Bivacco Pian Lago, which just Notbiwak is good. Overall, however, not recommended. Continue on Lake Ravinella past, which invites to swim and rest and then down to Campello Monti. There absolutely stay Capezzone in the Locanda Alla Del Vetta and eat naturally. Great owner, super friendly and very helpful. Locanda Alla Vetta Del Capezzone 5 Via Zamponi, Campello Monti, VB 28897, Italy Phone: +39 0323 885 113

NOTE: The refuge at Alpe del Lago is an unstaffed hut with 6 beds. There’s a stove, water supply and some kitchen provisions, but best to bring your own food. It’s very basic, but staying here is an alternative to hiking 25km and +1740m, as planned by Via Alpina. Because this trail has become popular with Germans hiking the GTA, you may find a full house at Alpe del Lago. The next possible refuge is Alpe Pian del Lago, which is nicely situated, but even smaller in size. In Aug. 2012 a shepherd was in residence here.
