From the Riviera to Mercantour on horseback
FROM THE RIVIERA TO MERCANTOUR ON HORSEBACK Picture gallery
RESORT: Dolcedo, Triora, Briga Alta, Casterino, Valli Prino, Argentina, Tanaro, Roya – Provinces of Imperia, Cuneo and Maritime Alps Department LENGTH: 6 days, 5 nights PROGRAMME: Offer for experienced horsemen trained in horse-hiking in mountain areas. We request an indication of age, height and weight (no more than 85 Kg). Horses are supplied for by the riding school. 1st day: arrival at Mulino Martino Riding School in Dolcedo (50 m above sea level) in the evening, horse accommodation, meeting with the guide and illustrative briefing of the programme, short transfer for accommodation in 2-star hotel in Dolcedo, dinner and overnight stay. 2nd day: breakfast at the hotel; at 8 meeting at the riding school’s for departure guided hike on horseback with ascent along the crest and panoramic ride towards Colle d’Oggia (1.150 m), packed lunch, continuation on the Monte Grande-Passo della Mezzaluna crest (1.454 m) and descent to reach Triora by 6 p.m. Accommodation in 2-star hotel, horses in electrical paddock at the hotel’s, dinner and overnight stay. 3rd day: breakfast at the hotel; at 8 departure guided hike on horseback along the country road (only the first part is asphalt, then dust) that reaches Passo della Guardia (1.460 m), then Collardente and then the French side up to Passo Tanarello (2.045 m). Packed lunch and continuation along the crown towards Colla Rossa to go down through Navette woods and reach the former military dust road, highly panoramic, which we follow towards Limone, surpassing Passo di Flamalgal (above Upega) and reaching the stage post at Colla dei Signori. Horse accommodation in open-air paddock and horsemen at Don Barbera Refuge (guarded); dinner and overnight stay. 4th day: breakfast at the refuge; at 7.30 beginning guided hike on horseback passing under Marguareis and through karst plains; at 12 arrival at Colle di Tenda’s Central Fort (1.870 m) and packed lunch, with a view on the Royal Valley and Limone Piemonte. Continuation along the former military dust road to Bassa di Peirafico which opens up on the Valle delle Meraviglie (Valley of Wonders, n.d.T.) and the Mercantour Park. Arrival in Casterino in the late afternoon, horsemen and horse accommodation at the 3-star hotel, dinner and overnight stay. 5th day: breakfast at the hotel; at 8.30 guided hike on horseback in the wonderful Mercantour Park with packed lunch. Return to the hotel in Casterino in the afternoon, dinner and overnight stay. 6th day: breakfast at the hotel. At 9.30 transfer to Dolcedo and departure. MIN/MAX NR. OF PARTICIPANTS FORESEEN: minimum 5 - maximum 8 people PRICE: € 1.200 per person The fee includes: - 1 half board in 2-star hotel in Dolcedo - 1 half board in 2-star hotel in Triora - 1 half board in refuge - 2 half boards in 3-star hotel in Casterino - 5 packed lunches - horses suitable for hiking supplied by the riding school - 1 qualified horse guide for the whole length of the trek - specialized assistance along the trail and in the stage posts - luggage transport along the way - transfer of participants from Casterino to Dolcedo by minibus and driver The fee also includes: - information material - vehicle parking in Mulino Martino riding school for the whole length of the trek The fee does not include: Drinks. Insurance is suggested but not required (a specific insurance of the riding school exists).
