Historical and architectural information: Compound made of antiaircraft galleries dating back to World War II. The so-called “Kleine Berlin” (small Berlin, n.d.T.) shelter includes a public gallery for civilians and a German military shelter made of a main gallery and lateral branches. One of them has on its ceiling a well which housed a winding staircase at the time, and was used by the SS commandant to go to his residence at the Court’s. Inside the compound one can visit two permanent exhibitions: one is about bombings Trieste underwent during the Second World War, the other one shows natural and artificial pits realized during World War I on the lower Isonzo front.
