Stelvio Pass, Municipalities of Bormio and Valdidentro (SO)

 

Historical and architectural information: Concrete barracks and trench, patrol alleyways and artillery posts near Forcola Notch. Rarer rests of military shacks are along the exchange way leading to Forcola Notch and Pedenolo Notch. Noticeable is the presence of several military mule tracks that allowed supplies in to artillery posts which were the Italian front line opposed to the Austrian ones on the other side of the valley leading to the Stelvio pass and positioned on Mount Scorluzzo. One can meet further evidence of the Great War climbing up towards Forcola Notch along the path from Giogo di S. Maria.     Information for visits:
