Hamlets, pastures and crowns in Monviso valley
HAMLETS, PASTURES AND CROWNS IN MONVISO VALLEY
Sanfront - Crissolo - Valle Po (CN)
7 days / 6 nights
The Stone King of this land is Monviso, the “Blatant Mountain” already sung by Virgilio and Dante, which the Romans thought to be the “roof of the World”. It’s a perfect pyramid, outlined in the sky, suddenly rising from the crown of Alpi Cozie and remaining as a constant benchmark for the Po Valley. A magnificent king of stone which, with its 3841 metres, represents the last bound into the clouds of a range already sloping towards the sea, ruling over Italy and France. A week of hiking and culture among pastures, crowns and castles.
Hikes in different high-altitude environments, visit to the Castle of Roccolo di Busca and wine, honey and biological products tastings, night treks in a peculiar hamlet, perfectly preserved thanks to its location under large projecting rocks called “balme”, which protect it from rain and snow.
